January 27 | Ice Rink Grand Opening | Elk Rapids
Grab your skates and head to Elk Rapids to break in the new ice rink! Starting at 6 p.m., there will be hot cocoa for the kiddos, adult beverages for purchase, and a curling demonstration.
January 27 | Shackleton’s Incredible Journey | Bay Harbor
As part of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s “Legends & Mysteries” series, this upcoming concert shares the story of Ernest Shackleton, a leader in the age of Antarctic exploration who undertook a dangerous mission and saved his crew, surviving all the odds. The concert starts at 7 p.m., with an optional pre-concert talk at 6 p.m.
January 27 | Candlelight Hike | Charlevoix
Experience the magic of winter with this candle-lit hike at Mt. McSauba. Running 5-8 p.m., set your own pace for a peaceful journey through a scenic trail, ending at a bonfire. This event takes place every Friday through February 24.
January 27-28 | Noquemanon Ski Marathon | Ishpeming
This marathon is not for the faint of heart! The Noquemanon is one of the largest point-to-point ski marathons in America–it’s rugged, remote and the ultimate ski experience. (Note: Registration for many of the races reopens on Friday.)

This unique winter experience hosted by The Highlands takes you on a magical two-mile walk along a lit trail through the woods, where the soft glow of lights will lead to a rustic yurt for a cozy bonfire with s’mores and warm drinks!
January 28 | Winter Music Series | Elk Rapids
Spend a Saturday night out at Ethanology Distillation for finely crafted cocktails, live music by The Shouting Bones, and great company. The show runs 7-10 p.m., and if you can’t catch this one, it’ll run every Saturday through April.
January 28-29 | Sips & Soups 2023 | Leelanau Peninsula
What’s better than a bowl of soup on a winter day? Well, all of that and a glass of Northern Michigan wine from your favorite winery, of course. Don’t miss this year’s Sips and Soups on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. Reservations are recommended to guarantee a spot at your favorite places.

Head to Hartwick Pines for a guided winter hike led by state professionals. Show up at 10 a.m. for a brisk morning adventure or 1 p.m. for the afternoon hike, and walk through the Hartwick Pines State Park to the Logging Museum for a cozy bonfire.

Spend a Snow Day with Delamar Traverse City! Locals and travelers alike can warm up and hunker down with the many amenities they offer onsite, such as the indoor and outdoor heated pools, sauna, hot tub, fitness center, snowshoes, fire pits with s’mores and more. Snow Days Day Passes are available weekly Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m until the end of March.
