March 31 | Lantern-Lit Hike at Kids Creek Park | Traverse City

Take a self-guided lantern-lit hike at Kids Creek Park. Grand Traverse Conservation District naturalists will greet you with hot cocoa at the trailhead between Kohls and Michaels. This one-mile trail is a short, accessible and engaging walk–perfect for the whole family. The hike is from 6-8 p.m.

April 1 | Comedy with Robert Jenkins | Traverse City 

Comedian Robert Jenkins will hit the stage at Traverse City Comedy Club for a hilarious show. A Detroit native and resident of Lansing, Robert Robert has previously performed at the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and Laughfest.

April 1-2 | Ralph Votapek | Traverse City 

Traverse Symphony Orchestra welcomes Ralph Votapek for a solo concert at the Cathedral Barn at Historic Barns Park. Seating is limited and there will be a cash bar, courtesy of Tonic & Lime. Concerts starts at 7: 30 p.m. on April 1 and 3 p.m. on April 2.

April 1 | Cocktail Classes | Traverse City 

Put your cocktail creation skills to the test with Artisan Traverse City’s hands-on, interactive Cocktail Classes happening every Saturday in April. In this series, you’ll dive into the fundamentals of a different spirit each week and learn the essentials of making cocktails including history and composition. Each class includes one craft cocktail prepared by the bartender, a classic cocktail prepared by each guest, and light snack offerings.

April 1-2 | Klondike Challenge | Oscoda

Catch up with canoe and kayak race friends after a long winter offseason during The Klondike Challenge, which features over 4 miles of paddling fun. Don’t feel like getting on the water? Sign up for the 5K or 10K Run/Walk Challenge on Sunday. Paddlers and runners of all ages and talent levels are welcome. 

April 1 | Storytime with a Park Ranger | Empire 

Have storytime with a Park Ranger at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore’s visitor center this weekend! Starting at 10 a.m. your little ones can learn about “The Legend of the Beaver’s Tail,” and the older children will learn about the importance of The Great Lakes and take part in an activity demonstrating water usage. This is a free event, but you must have a park entrance pass or an annual pass.

April 1 | Bowling Down Main Street | Harbor Springs 

Bowling Down Main Street is back! Get free hot chocolate and donuts at Johan’s, Northern Lights Recreation will give away a free bowling card to all participants, and Harbor Ice Cream Soup & Sandwiches will have free ice cream for all kids. The event starts at noon. 

April 1 | Kent Wilcox Author Visit | Cadillac

Kent Wilcox, author of “The Lost History of Washington and Lee: New Discoveries,” will discuss the challenges of researching and writing a non-fiction history book and his own story at Cadillac Wexford Public Library. The event takes place from 1-3 p.m.

April 1 | Easter Saturday at Barrel Back Restaurant | Walloon Lake

Celebrate Easter early with Barrel Back! Join a delicious brunch with the Easter bunny and festive activities for the whole family, including an egg hunt, trivia competition and egg toss for the adults. The brunch will kick off at 11 a.m., and family activities start at 1 p.m.

April 2 | Gardening Basics | Traverse City

Get ready for spring gardening! Nate Walton, Consumer Horticulture Educator from MSU Extension, will talk about gardening basics at the Traverse Area District Library at 1 p.m. After the program, grab some seeds from the Seed Library and get started on your garden.
